LLOYD’S BUILDING, 1 LIME STREET, London EC3M
A late twentieth century High Tech office building for the major insurance firm, Lloyd’s. Designed from 1978, begun in 1981 and opened in 1986 to the designs of Richard Rogers Partnership (RRP). Engineers, Ove Arup & Partner.
It exemplifies the High Tech style in Britain, with its boldly expressed services and flexibility of plan throughout the impressive exterior and interior.
Grade 1 listed.
AYLESHAM CENTRE, PECKHAM SE15
A Post Modernist shopping centre on Rye Lane, built in 1985 and replacing the Jones & Higgins department store.
Shopping malls of this period were often designed with an ‘anchor tenant’ at one end to draw shoppers through, this one contains a large supermarket. However shopping centres like these often find themselves falling out of fashion over time and this one looks set for either redevelopment or demolition.

MAYNARDS QUAY, SHADWELL BASIN, WAPPING E1
These waterfront flats at Maynards Quay are part of the Shadwell Basin redevelopment commissioned by the London Docklands Development Corporation.
The scheme was built between 1986 and 1988 to designs by MacCormac Jamieson Prichard and Wright. The design incorporates historical references and draws on the architecture of Victorian docks with arches inspired by the Albert Dock in Liverpool.

NO. 1 POULTRY, London EC2R
A speculative office and retail building designed in 1985-88 by James Stirling, Michael Wilford and Associates for Peter Palumbo’s City Acre Property Investment Trust Ltd, and built in 1994-8.
An unsurpassed example of commercial post-modernism, on a monumental scale, with its striped façade of pink and yellow limestone and cylindrical clock tower, bearing a whimsical resemblance to a toy ship.

TATE MODERN-EXTENSION, BANKSIDE, SE1
The Switch House, a ten-storey tower forming the extension to the original conversion of the former Bankside Power Station which opened in 2000.
Designed by Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron and opened in 2016, the extension features an exterior of latticed brickwork and folded surfaces.
Scottish Parliament Building, Edinburgh EH99
The Scottish Parliament Building (Scottish Gaelic: Pàrlamaid na h-Alba) is home to the Scottish Parliament at Holyrood, within the UNESCO World Heritage Site in central Edinburgh.
Construction commenced in 1999 and opened in 2004. This complex building was hailed on opening as one of the most innovative designs in Britain today.
Enric Miralles, the Spanish architect who designed the building, drew inspiration from the surrounding landscape, the flower paintings by Charles Rennie Mackintosh and the upturned boats on the seashore, to develop a design from a mixture of steel, oak, and granite that he said was a building "growing out of the land".
30 ST. MARY AXE, London EC3A
A commercial skyscraper previously known as the Swiss Re Building and informally known as the Gherkin, designed by Norman Foster and the Arup Group.
Construction started in 2001 and the building opened in 2004.

114 PECKHAM RYE, SE15
The Rye Apartments is a development of ten apartments in two buildings, overlooking Peckham Rye Park.
A facade of clay shingles wrap the buildings in a way that is monolithic and sculptural, whilst different-shaped windows interrupt the facade and a unifying concrete plinth to the buildings extends to form privacy fencing at street level.
The client, architect and main contractor are Tikari Works and the development was completed in 2020.
95 Peckham Road, Peckham, London SE15
A new tenement style mansion block designed by Peter Barber Architects and completed in 2020.
Located in a prominent location on the North side of Peckham Road in Southwark, the building’s stepped profile creates a sunny south facing roof terrace for each apartment.
PROSPECT PLACE, BATTERSEA POWER STATION, LONDON SW11
Gehry Partners first residential development in London, completed in 2022. Prospect Place adds a diverse architectural expression designed to frame and enhance the existing power station.
The Marshall Building, Lincoln's Inn Fields, London WC2A
The Marshall Building is a seminal new addition to LSE’s campus, designed by Dublin-based Grafton Architects. opened in January 2022.
The large, multi-purpose building occupies a pivotal position at the southern corner of Lincoln’s Inn Fields and embeds LSE’s presence in one of London’s most iconic garden squares.
